Preliminary Contents Page

For a school contents page, my contents page seems ok but i would have wished to improve it. I once again used the colours of the school which are yellow and blue. I tilted my pictures this was breaking the traditional layout and make it better to look at than it being plain and boring. I put shadow around the pictures to make them stand out to the audience.
I labelled the pictures wif page numbers for references, this was for the puplic benefit because if they saw a story they really wanted to read quickly, it would be quick and easy to find it.
My contents page is quite plain, in the real work i will make both my front cover and contents page a lot better by making it more lively and interesting. In the real work i will use more pictures and more text to make my magazine more full and fasinating, this will engage the reader and give them more to read about. By seeing my front cover and contents page like this, i will improve my real one alot more.

Preliminary Work

I created a magazine for the Heworth Grange Comprehensive School, However i would like to have had more time to improve my magazine. The model i used is looking out into the audience, this appeals to the audience, and i also used the school colours. The yellow border i used across the top of the magazine cover is a common convention of magazines which contains writing about what is inside my magazine. By using bright colours, this will appear to my audience. My magazine contains information that the pupils of heworth grange would like to read and what they would be interested in. I used shadow around the star that contains "free" this makes it stand out to the reader.I used different fonts on the front of my magazine to make it look more lively instead of it being all the same and boring. I tilted a few things on the cover to break the conventional layout. The biggest story stands out more as the main model ois on the front cover and the tet for the main story is bold and has shadow on it to make is stand out from the page. I put boxes around the text and a picture to also make it stand out to the audience.

Preliminary Work

what I am goin to do ...

I intend to make a magazine based on music. I like pop music and have decided to create a pop magazine. I like the cover of smash hits magazine as it stands out and the colour schemes are simple. It is aimed at a female audience as a good looking male is presented on the front cover and it quotes " Mmm saucy, everything you wanted to know about Ben". In magazines Different fonts are used on the front cover of this, this is following common conventions of a typical magazine. The front cover is quite crowded, this indicates that there are lots of things inside.
The use of candid images and studio images are used. Studio images are are posed pictures, where as candid images are nice, relaxed snapshots. An example of a studio image would be the image of Ben, this also appeals to girls, studio images are looking out towards the audience so this appeals to them. The barcode on the magazine can be put anywhere aslong as its not over another image.
Teen age girls are the main audience if this magazine because of the celebrities used, such as Gareth Gates, Ben and Lee from blue and the content. By using shadow on the pictures, gives a dynamic effect, this gives the images depth and makes them stand out and look lively. The writing also has a shadow on it this makes it stand out.

I analysed contents pages to show the common conventions that are used in magazine contents pages as well as my own.

This Magazine contents page is from mogo, which is a typical music magazine, everyone of their contents pages uses a typical layout and keeps the same layout through the magazines. They section certain topics into little bands which is easier for the reader and makes the features easy to organise. The colours are originally black and gold and this conents page also shows the date and the issue for the magazine for the reader. There is a person on the contents page that will be recognisable for the reader. The big photograph frames the contents page. You can see under each heading it shows a brief explanation about the topic.
